A CHARTER ORDINANCE EXEMPTING THE CITY OF TOWANDA, KANSAS, FROM THE PROVISIONS OF K.S.A. 79-1953 RELATING TO TAX LEVIES FOR THE LIBRARY FUND, AND PROVIDING SUBSTITUTE PROVISIONS ON THE SAME SUBJECT.

Section 1. The City of Towanda, by virtue of the power vested in it by Article 12, Section 5 of the Constitution of the State of Kansas, hereby elects to exempt itself from and makes inapplicable to it K.S.A. 79-1953, which applies to this city but which is not uniformly applicable to all cities.

Section 2. The governing body of the City of Towanda is hereby authorized and empowered to levy taxes in each year for the library fund at a rate not to exceed 2½ mills of the assessed tangible valuation of the city.
